Gilchrist County Emergency Operations
Emergency Operations Center | Trenton, FL
The Gilchrist County Public Safety Department was previously housed in a small, frame, rental building converted from a residence when they applied for and received State and Federal Grant Money to construct a new complex. The final building program included the County's Emergency Operations Center, a Fire Station, and the relocation of the existing Emergency Medical Station. Grant requirements dictated that the EOC withstand wind borne debris as well as 160 mph winds. In addition to wind borne debris enclosures, storm shutters, etc., the structure is virtually 100% concrete utilizing an insulated concrete from system and precast concrete roof structure. The EOC is designed to accommodate the existing full time, 24-7-365 staff along with an additional 33 staff members for briefing and emergency operations.
